Custom Bicycles Support Sustainability at Italian MARTINI Facility

bacardi pic In 2006, Bacardi Limited began carefully monitoring its global environmental impact, striving to introduce sustainable practices at its production facilities around the world. Among its numerous goals, Bacardi’s Good Spirited initiative aims to implement more sustainable packaging designs, reduce excess water usage, and limit greenhouse gas emissions, and it has encouraged environmentally conscious habits at locations such as Bacardi’s Pessione, Italy, MARTINI production facility.

The Pessione facility has produced fine vermouths and sparkling wines for more than 150 years. As the largest MARTINI production site in the world, it spans 40 acres and offers a selection of 55 custom bicycles as an environmentally conscious alternative to car travel. Displaying MARTINI’s widely recognizable ball and bar logo, the bright yellow bicycles allow employees to traverse the expansive grounds without generating pollution. The more efficient mode of transportation also keeps noise levels low across the facility’s campus while helping employees to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle.

The sustainable efforts of the Pessione MARTINI facility have contributed to the overall success of the Good Spirited initiative. Collectively, Bacardi’s MARTINI facilities have achieved a 30 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions over the past decade.
