Bacardi Limited Maintains Commitment to Social Responsibility
Bacardi Limited recently released its 2014 Corporate Responsibility (CR) Report. Entitled “Our Spirit is Clear,” the report highlights the company’s initiatives to increase the sustainability of its operations and promote responsible drinking. Last year, Bacardi launched its Good Spirited environmental platform, which outlines a number of specific goals related to packaging, sourcing, and operations that the company plans to achieve by 2022. These goals focus on reducing the use of water, as well as limiting energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.
Since 2006, Bacardi has tracked its global impact on the environment. So far, the company has reduced water use by 55 percent and energy use by more than 25 percent. The new program, Good Spirited: Building a Sustainable Future, outlines Bacardi’s efforts not just to reduce waste, but also to benefit the environment at least as much as the company’s manufacturing and supply processes affect it.
The company hopes to lead by example and inspire other manufacturers to undertake their own sustainability initiatives. Bacardi’s continued commitment also aims to inspire consumer confidence by assuring customers that the leading spirits producer is taking steps to build a sustainable future.
